week 15

I really like that for the final week in class we got to experiment with the ways we could teach topics to our students by doing these experiments ourselfs. I think this was a good way to wrap up the semester in getting us prepared to actually teach in a classroom but to also workout the things we needed to know for the test. I really likes the way the last 5 weeks was set up and feel more confident and prepared to teach elementary students science now.

week 14

I really liked this week of comparing the traits of multiple objects. It really challenged my thinking when I was super sure of the way theses objects would react the to be wrong. I really loved that as the instructor you brought us back together as a class to show the different ways that tinfoil can react when its just sitting flat on the water vs crumpled into an airtight ball. I would use this as a classroom teacher as a hands on way for students to start understanding the properties of matter.

week 13

This week we worked on the m&ms melting in water again and used sugar to see whether they melted quicker or slower. I love this idea for children relating a common candy they are all interested in with an experiment, This is a lesson that is relatable to most of their lives. I think the way we went back to a previous activity like this one that we have done before is always a good idea because it builds prior knowledge from the first lesson and creates a more in depth understanding of a topic when we are just focused on one.
